Athabasca Oil Corporation is a Canadian oil and gas exploration, development, and production company operating in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, with primary assets in Alberta. The company operates two business segments—Thermal Oil and Light Oil—and produces light and medium crude oil, tight oil, conventional and shale gas, natural gas liquids, and bitumen from formations in the Greater Placid, Greater Kaybob, Leismer, and Hangingstone areas. As of December 31, 2021, Athabasca held approximately 889,000 net acres of mineral leases and permits, including 347,000 net acres of oil sands leases and an interest in approximately 254 gross wells across bitumen, crude oil, and natural gas operations. Headquartered in Calgary, the company was incorporated in 2006 and changed its name from Athabasca Oil Sands Corp. in May 2012.
